GREM: Greywater recycling system station

greywater recycling system

The recycling station GREM is a series of systems for treating greywater coming from showers, baths and basins, obtaining water with quality for use utilising membrane technology.

The water treated for use in toilet cisterns and for watering garden zones must be channelled separately from the network drinking water.

The system complies with the requirements of Royal Decree 1620/2007, dated 7th December, whereby the legal system is established for the reutilisation of treated water and Article 4 of the SPANISH TECHNICAL GUIDE TO GREYWATER RECYCLING IN BUILDING prepared by Aqua España.

The signs and signals at the facilities must comply with Point 2.2 of Section HS4 of the Technical Code of Buildings. These items of equipment will be manufactured following the standards in BS- 4994:1987.

ADVANTAGES:

  • Compact equipment: roughing, oxidation, filtering through membra- nes, chlorination and accumulation in one single item of equipment.
  • Considerable saving of consumption water. • Helping to conserve the Environment
    • High purification performance and reliability obtaining water with reutilisation quality.
    • The membrane bioreactor is insensitive to the sedimentation problems.
    • The membrane acts as a selective physical barrier that blocks the passage of suspended material and microorganisms.

HOW A RECYCLED GREY STATION WORKS:

THE SYSTEM IS CARRIED OUT IN THE FOLLOWING STEPS:

  • ROUGHING:

Consists of removing the coarse so- lids that might be in the water, as well as traces of hair, which could damage the membranes. A filter with 1 mm threads is used for this purpose.

  • BIOLOGICAL OXIDATION:

The biological decomposition of or- ganic matter takes place in the bio- logical reactor thanks to the provision of air and the generation of aerobic microorganisms.

  • FILTERING:

The solid – liquid separation takes place by filtering using membra- ne technology. A suction system is used to exert a vacuum pressure on the membranes creating an inflow-outflow in such a way that the water seeps through the membranes, leaving the solids, viruses and bacteria retained in the reactor. The sprinklers create an ascending airflow that makes it possible to clean the surface of the outer wall of the membranes and guarantee the aerobic conditions for the de- gradation of the organic matter.

  • CHLORINATION AND ACCUMULATION:

The treated water is chlorinated by the dosage of sodium hypo- chlorite making it possible to conserve the sanitary properties of the effluent, guaranteeing that the water can be reutilised, and then it is stored in the accumulation compartment.

Accessories for grey water recycling system

Membrane blower

Accessory included

The blower has three functions:

  • To provide oxygen to enable the microorganisms to degrade the organic matter.
  • To create sufficient agitation to keep the microorganisms in suspension.
  • To create an ascending flow of bubbles that entrains the material deposited on the surface of the membranes, producing a cleaning effect.

Chlorination system

Accessory included

The meter, which emits pulses, enables the sodium hypochlorite dosage to take place on the basis of the permeate extraction discharge. The water stored will reach an active chlorine concentration of 1mg/l.

Permeate extraction pump

Accessory included

The purpose of the permeate pump is to generate the depression needed in the permeate collector in such a way that the greywater is filtered by cross flow.

Single-phase protection and manoeuvre electrical panel (230V)

Accessory included

GBHS 25 l – Sodium hypochlorite 15%

Accessory included

GBCA 25 l – Blue dye

Accessory included

Dye kit

Accessory included

The dye kit includes a metering pump proportional to the discharge, a 25l drum of blue dye and an electrical panel.
