Wastewater bar screen

Manual bar screen

manual screen

This is a wastewater pretreatment unit. This passes through a grill with a gap of 20 mm.

The voluminous matter and other floating waste are trapped and retained by the grill. These solids must be collected manually from the draining basket using a rake.
Doing this we:

  • Avoid obstructing the channels, pipes or ducts.
  • Intercept materials that could damage the operation of the downstream units (degreaser, flow meter, decanter, etc.).
  • Increase the efficiency of the downstream biological treatments.

Manual screen: coarse – fine

Fine and coarse bar screens in wastewater treatment

The wastewater passes through finer and finer grills where the bulky materials are retained. There are two types of screening: coarse screening, which purifies the water with grills spaced 30 mm apart to remove the most bulky waste and fine screening which comprises grills spaced 6 mm apart. The two grills (coarse/fine) are installed in the same rectangular tank and provided with a rake to remove the solids
